American cellist Bella Lorenzo-Giguere seeks collaboration across artistic disciplines and musical genres, aiming to create energetic and enriching concert-going experiences for her audiences. As one of this year’s Southbank Future Artists, Bella created and performed a concert in Southbank's Purcell Room under the guidance of the Manchester Collective. She recently collaborated with a singer, composer, and art curators to create a piece responding to artwork at the Courtauld Gallery. Her piano trio, the Fiesole Trio, was chosen as the Poole Society for Young Musicians’ Artists in Residence this year, and she has also performed with quartets in residence at the Waterperry Opera Festival and the Musique dans les Gers Chamber Music Festival. Bella served as principal cellist with Orchestra for the Earth on their Alpine tour through Austria and Belgium, and she has worked on experimental improvisation projects culminating in performances at Vortex Jazz Club and Iklectik London. Upcoming engagements include performances with the Glyndebourne Sinfonia as part of the Pit Perfect Scheme and appearances with the London Bollywood Orchestra, where she serves as principal cellist.

Bella recently completed her Professional Diploma at the Royal Academy of Music, where she studied with John Myerscough. She also earned a Master of Arts from the Academy with financial support from the Calleva Foundation. Previously, she studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music, earning a Bachelor of Music with Academic Honors. Her principal teachers have included Melissa Kraut, Julia Lichten, and Evelyn Elsing. Bella has been a top prize-winner at the David Martin/Florence Hooton Concerto Prize, Veraö Classico Festival, National Society of Arts and Letters, and the Washington Performing Arts Feder and Misbin Competitions.

Bella loves reading books written by women and swimming in the freezing cold lido near her flat.
